to probe Armenia claims
UEFA
has appointed a disciplinary inspector to look into allegations of match-fixing
relating to last Saturday's UEFA EURO 2004™ qualifying match between Armenia and
Greece. Claims investigated The
inspector will investigate claims made by Ruben Hayrapetyan, president of the
Football Federation of Armenia (FFA), to the UEFA match delegate that approaches
were made to Armenia to fix the game in favour of Greece. All
aspects considered UEFA's director of communications and public affairs,
Mike Lee, said: "UEFA has today appointed a disciplinary inspector to investigate
allegations that have been made regarding the EURO 2004 qualifying match between
Armenia and Greece. The inspector has been asked to look at all aspects of the
allegations including the way in which the allegations were made.

due "Once the inspection is complete, UEFA will decide what if any future
steps are needed." The inspector has been asked to report back ahead of the final
series of qualifying matches on 11 October. |
