*BIG DISCLAIMER*
If you DO NOT have a Digitech Bass Whammy You will Not get this song to sound right…..I watched tons of
Vids on this song, and I knew where Justins fingers were and what he was doing with the whammy, but I could
Not figure out the whammy setting. I had it in Harmony 1 up/1 down position, but it just didn’t sound right..
Especially at the part when he first turns the whammy on, because in a vid, I see him turn the whammy on, but
Keeps it rocked back. When I played this riff with the whammy in 1 up/1 down position, it sounded like crap, cuz
Playing the riff 1 down was TOO low. Then Finally tonight, I looked down and noticed something I have never seen
Since I had the bass whammy. There is a setting, Only on the bass whammy (as far as I know…have not checked wh-1 or
Xp-100) that is not on the regular whammy. It’s a harmony setting that is 5thup/ 1 up. That means rocked back,
The notes are bent 5th up and rocked forward they go 1 up. After playing the song it sounded perfect and I was finally
Relieved that this song is done. Also, When you get to the cool sounding part, this is how Justin gets that slide sound,
By rocking the pedal from forward to back. When I was doing it in 1 up/ 1 down, the slides weren’t smooth, and sounded
Off, so when I tried it with this setting it sounded perfect. I will record the song and put it on Excurses for you guys
To hear, so you can see where I am coming from. So If you do not have the bass whammy, check on your wh-1’s, whammy2’s, and
Xp 100’s for the harmony setting 5thup/ 1 up. If you don’t have it….sorry, You will have to improvise, and play with
Your whammy to get what sounds good to you. I am 100% sure this is the setting, and for those fortunate enough to have one
Of the “bastard to find” bass whammy’s...I say...enjoy!! Thanks guys!

I will have 3 new symbols for this tab.
When you see a note with  ^ after it, it means the note is struck and the whammy is rocked forward.
When you see a note with  * after it, it means the note is struck and the whammy is rocked SLOWLY Back.
When you see a note with ** after it, it means the note is struck and the whammy is QUICKLY rocked fwd then back.
(This is what gives the “weeooh weeooh” sound..lol)

 W/ delay
(Also, if your delay is not set just right, the whammy part will sound off, so get it as close as you can)

When Justin plays this, his hand never moves, he puts his index on the 14 and ring on the 16, leaving the middle for
The 15, this part is ALL whammy, I practiced it for a long time to get it to sound right. Once you get it, though..its
Sweet. Also....on this part, once you rock the whammy forward on the second 16, keep it forward until after the 15 on the
g is struck, then rock back.
