Adam's brother AL JONES is performing with his band Mission Creep at Mickey Finn's Brewery in Libertyville, tomorrow night (4/18) and Saturday night (4/19). Mission Creep are a progressive rock band (not a Tool cover band folks), and will be performing with local band Penguins With Shotguns. Mickey Finn's is located at 412 N. Milwaukee, Libertyville, IL. Doors open at 7:30pm, Mission Creep goes on at 9pm. There is a $5 cover at the door. If you are in the area please stop by and support our favourite Jones (in the mid-west that is).
THE CARFAX MONOGRAPHS
We’ve posted the photographs of a set of the original Carfax monographs by Kenneth & Steffi Grant on Danny’s website (www.dannycarey.org). The original multicolored pen and ink drawings by Steffi Grant, which illustrated the ten essays of ‘hidden lore’ written by British occultist and Outer Head Of the Typhonian O.T.O., Kenneth Grant, are rare in the extreme. So much so, that in all our years of collecting Crowleyana and other rare morsels of western esotericism, this is the only complete set of the series of monographs that we’d ever seen for sale. For those who wish to read the essays, they were reprinted in a beautifully-produced book entitled "Hidden Lore" that was published by Skoob Books in 1989. Unfortunately, this book is also becoming increasingly difficult to find. To view the photos, go to Danny’s site and click on ‘Philosophy.’ Under ‘updates’, select ‘Art & Music’ and scroll down under the ‘First Edition Aleister Crowley Book Gallery’ until you see the link.
Just a reminder that Aloke Dutta will be performing at the Bluebird Theater in Denver, Colorado on April 23rd (at 9PM). This is an all ages show and a great opportunity to see/hear a wonderful tabla player. If you are lucky, Aloke might even tell some of his favorite dirty jokes (tantric in nature), or at least offer his own brand of philosophical enlightenment. Hopefully, many of you digging out (?) in the Denver area will attend the show as Aloke recently made the terrible mistake of taking Danny and I (along with a couple of others) out to lunch at an Indian restaurant here in Los Angeles. Once he announced that he would be paying the bill, the large Taj Mahals and Yetis began to arrive in a steady procession, interrupted only by shining platters of Tikka and bowls of mulligatawny soup in which we dipped garlic naan bread. And of course I ordered enough papadam* for a Maharaja. Wow, I was sure peeing amber that afternoon! Also performing at the venue on that evening will be a local band called Katalyst.
* those lentil crisps that I so adore with spoonfuls of that green stuff.
