BIOGRAPHY Artyom Manoukyan- Was born 1983 June 28, in Yerevan. He graduated from St.Jrbashyan Music School, and, after one year of study in Tchaikovsky Special Music School, entered in 2000 the Yerevan Komitas State Conservatory. Now he studies there cello with People's Artist of Armenia, Medea Abrahamian. In 1997, he became the 2nd prizewinner of S.Aslamazyan and A.Gabrielyan Republic Competition. From 1997 till 1999, he was a member of "New Names" musical organization. In 2001, he participated in masterclasses by B. Pergamenshchikov and L.Harell in Luebeck, Germany. Two years ago, Mr. Manoukyan started to play also double bass: both jazz and contemporary music. He has recorded two CDs. The first one -as a member of avant-garde-jazz quartet "Into" (with Aram Hovhannisyan as a flutist): the group named the freshest and best group of the year in Yerevan by one of famous jazz journalists, Howard Mendell. And the second CD was recorded in collaboration with Armenian folk-rock group "Bambir". Mr. Manoukyan started to play contemporary music also about 2-3 years ago. He plays mostly the music of young composers and has in his repertory pieces written especially for him. |
